Reviews of CATAPULT
The Best Point Of Sale Available
Comments: ECRS Catapult is integral to our natural food cooperative operation, and only becomes more so as time goes on.
Pros:
The depth of coverage of our retail needs: from registers to vendor ordering and now e-commerce and a scale connected to the system. Member management and loyalty features are great, too. Placing items on sale and printing tags and signs also excellent. ECRS also provides excellent service and hardware, plus access to the SQL database for custom reporting.
Cons:
As with any tool that will handle thousands of items and millions of transactions, the configuration is complex and takes time to understand and customize. This has gotten much easier with the development of WebOffice and the continual improvement and innovation that ECRS pursues and provides. We have had a little trouble with our latest hardware, but gold support has been consistently quick and helpful.
Alternatives Considered:
ECRS Catapult is an ERP / POS that should be on everyone's short list
Comments: I would describe our business as a straightforward Point of Sale entity, but we utilize, or are required, to incorporate complex business processes. Catapult has been able to solve a great number of those processes and put us in a much better position to not only operate, but to grow at a rapid pace as well. The support teams have been a delight to work with and having the developers listen to our wishes for enhancement and features was a huge value add.
Pros:
The flexibility of Catapult is amazing! You get a great core set of features available in Catapult, but then there's add-ons and software switches that you can utilize to further customize your experience. There's also a number of avenues available to extract or import data in Catapult as well.
Cons:
Part of having such a flexible product is that you have to know how to enable, configure and use those features. ECRS has made VAST improvements to documenting things as well as providing training / knowledge resources, so things are heading in the right direction.
It's our Point of Sale
Comments: We are working to implement perpetual inventory. Management and updating of the product database is time consuming. The EcoPortal is a good idea, but the the product information is too limited.
Pros:
Features and value-ad in services, such as Loyalty Bot. The overall usefulness of the product.
Cons:
New feature development required to keep pace with the national chains is too slow. Antiquated design in some aspects of the system. Inconsistent or outdated documentation in the OLM
Tried and True
Comments: Great company to work with for POS and Retail solutions. We have used them for so long and they always seem to be making updates or listening to requests from the userbase. We will continue to use them for as long as I can see.
Pros:
One of the best POS systems on the market! A variety of ways to handle Inventory, ordering, and sales. As a Multi-Store Retail it makes it easier to have it work with HQ on same sales and products entered into it. The registers are straight forwards for training new cashiers or management on. We have been using it for over a decade now with very few issue.
Cons:
The customer support is a little lackluster in some aspect. They can be hard to get help from if you have an issue but they are always polite. The reporting can be odd at times if you use too many filters.
McCaffrey's CAN compete with the big budget supermarkets
Comments: OPTIONS!CATAPULT has been a major contributor to our ability to roll new experiences out with our customers. We are now using Biometrics for supervisors to override and employee purchases. We can now sell our products online. We have options. Accelerated Check out for people that love technology, the traditional check out experience with CATAPULT TS, Self check out for those that want to do their own checking out and finally the ability to order online to have groceries delivered or picked up. The software provides OPTIONS.
Pros:
Before ECRS, we spent most of our days correcting mistakes that were entered at store level. We had no true database to make mass edits easily. We were reactive and slow to make changes.ECRS allowed us to work from the top down. Easily make changes, and it replicates to the stores quickly and consistently in each store. ECRS does not try to be all things for all merchants. They take the time to evaluate each new idea and process and find the best fit for these by vetting the processes before implementing. They ensure their software is quality. Limited bugs and can be easily flexible in their upgrades or code changes. You can't do this wit h the big budget competitors who take 18 months to do upgrades and your suggestion might get reviewed if lucky. ECRS has multiple features for you to help suggest ideas to help improve the software. Their ability to use Agile development methodology to be fast, inclusive with the merchants in the process, and it is impressive how many new features they have rolled out in the last few years to keep up with a fast-paced industry.
Cons:
- Upgrading of the pin pads made easier where pinpad utility does not have to be run after upgrades.- Visbility of what the pin pad messaging is saying or mirroring while remotely administrating POS systems to help avoid driving to store to see what message is on the pin pad.
ECRS is a great POS and Inventory management assest
Comments: Overall, I would recommend using catapult as your POSif you are a retailer since they count on great customer service, their software features are very competitive if not better I dare to say compared to other full-service POS retailers. Their hardware can seem a bit pricey but they offer Gold Care (Warranty) for most of the big ticket items and if something breaks under that warranty they will ship overnight a replacement to replace the item so you do not loose business.
Pros:
Catapult is a product that is very user-friendly and it is easy to deploy. They have good customer support and the staff is very friendly. A lot of the features are easy to set up since they have a bd KB accessible to the customer and they also offer online classes to be able to use the software. As an IT, that is a big asset as there are times that I can troubleshoot my own issues and solve most of them without needing to reach out to customer support.
Cons:
The one thing that I like the least is that there are a lot of bugs every time there is an update. Sometimes it takes them weeks or months to solve some of the issues which can be very frustrating on our end. Some of them are minor annoyances but nevertheless, they always seem to have a workaround or temporary fix to help you out while they make the next patch.
The system that continues to help us improve.
Pros:
As the Front End manager I train all cashiers. When they get their first look at the system many are initially intimidated, but all of them have been able to learn it quickly. Getting a new cashier up and running takes very little time. The control we have over what the cashier sees and can access is amazing. Everytime I say "I wish Catapult......" it seems like they make it happen in the next update.
Cons:
The only thing I can think of is sometimes I wish in the reports for cashiers when I clicked on a section it would take me to a list or a place that I could dig deeper into what that stat means,
Works Wonderfully as a POS but....
Comments: Very professional and have a strong infrastructure for support. They are continuously updating the system and deploy relevant updates. If they just made working with their system easier I'd have no complaints.
Pros:
It is a reliable POS system. We are a multi-location retailer and have never had any major downtime. Great community of users that create a knowledgable ecosystem.
Cons:
ECRS tries to be EVERYTHING. They have loyalty, email, e-com etc. but they don't specialize in those areas so the product is not up to par with other vendors. The worst part is that they make working with them a bit of a nightmare.
ECRS streamlines all areas of retail management
Comments: Overall this has been a good move for our business, coming from manually cashiering and no inventory practices, to monitoring movement daily. The POS is easy for all levels of computer users to navigate. The support has been great and everyone is super helpful at HQ!
Pros:
The database management is easy to use. ECRs was helpful during the set up process and got us to where we needed to be quickly.
Cons:
During the setup process we felt we didn't get any training on how to use daily features. WE had to figure a LOT of things out and attended a few catapult trainings to be sure we had it right. Seemed like a lot of trial and error during this time for us. We would have liked an onsite training before launch.
ECRS
Pros:
the must have system for a grocery store
Cons:
dont have an app on the phone for easy access reporting
Review Title
Comments: We are exploring our marketing options with LoyaltyBot, which is a huge point of excitement for the business. However, we have noticed increased frequency of bugs and issues, as well as slower support, over the last couple of years (maybe since around the time rapid mini-updates started)
Pros:
Ability to customize promotions and coupons, lots of different fields in item data, new features
Cons:
Frequent bugs, inconsistent instructions on lesser-used aspects of the system, slow support
One of the best POS software developers in their market segment.
Pros:
Modern design and vast ecosystem of components.
Cons:
Data visualization software needs a refresh.
