Comments: I have tried other directories, from the best sellers to others that are very simple and low payment. However, I have also had problems with them and mainly with translation. Every time the loco translate plugin was updated, it would misconfigure everything, or with the theme itself when it was updated, it would get something unconfigured. Mainly in the part where customers showed their information, which is in Spanish. And that was very frequent.
And the creator of that directory preferred sales to having translation into another language natively. And this was a real headache: to stop paying attention to other things to correct this. To begin with, that's why I switched to Brilliant directories, because it already has the Spanish language by default. And now that I have your attention, let me tell you how good and how bad Brilliant directories has been for me and why FOR ME, IT WAS A HEADACHE NOT TO HAVE USED IT BEFORE: The Good: You save a lot of effort. Short and fast learning curve.
Its basic tutorials to get started are clear.
If you're not a developer, this is your best buy.
The support team is fast and effective.
You will save yourself something that is more expensive in your entire life: time.
(Time that you don't have enough or that you can dedicate to other projects). The Bad:
It's not cheap. (Nor are cars with all the safety systems, a larger family car, or sports cars.) However, for me, it's worth every penny I spent. If you are an entrepreneur and you are starting out and you do not have many resources, I suggest that you save and invest in it. Even if it's with the basics. For me it is a way of investing in an asset that will generate passive income. So I consider it to be a good investment in the short and long term, or a good expense that is worth making. That's why I'm telling you.
It will be a headache if you don't have brilliant directories, you're going to waste a lot of time updating other directories

Love this tool, huge safe time

Comments: With my friend, we were thinking about how to set up a site for a directory project that we had in mind... and bam, we came across this tool with this bunch of features that I didn't even imagine being able to integrate into our site.

Pros:

The fact of being able to launch a directory site in a few hours

Cons:

Nothing for the moment, I may have to see how things are going with billing etc.

Best out of the box directory business software

Pros:

I like how simple it is to set up and start monetizing. This is an out of the box solution where you can monetize a directory business and rank for SEO.

Cons:

It can feel a little overwhelming with all the different setting if you want to fully customize it.

NO SOURCE CODE

Comments: None. Waste of money.

Pros:

Lots of features. Their salesmen are good at telling you all the things you want to hear. After your payment clears the bank, you learn the truth about the limitations.

Cons:

Their claim to provide the source code is BS. Regardless of what they tell you, they limit access to the source code and you will spend a lot of money trying to customize the system. I believe they limit access, so they can sell you Customization Hours. The designs are way outdated and customizing is very limited. Look deeper at their examples. We fell for the initial purchase and then a follow up email for another license for super cheap, so before I could get into customizing their product, I owned two licenses (and still do, for sale by the way). On the surface, BD appears to be perfect. It is great as long as you don't need unlimited access to the code or REALLY need to customize it (not talking about changing colors). You decide.

Brilliant Directories is truely Brilliant

Great functionality

Comments: Smooth and easy with great support that replies fast.

Pros:

The functionality is what we were looking for in terms of building directories. Also love how users can search the profiles of other members and make contact with each other.

Cons:

Would love to see members have the abilitly to attach their own payment gateways and recieve payments directly allowing us to retain a percentage.

Brilliant Directories is a no brainer for directory (and other) sites.

Comments: Very easy to get started and almost plug and play in comparison with building something similar on other platforms.

Pros:

The ease of getting started. I’ve built many websites in Wordpress and other cms. Brilliant Directories is the easiest I’ve found to get a site up and able to start getting subscribers.

Cons:

Given my experience the platform has some limitations. That said, it seems like there are workarounds for most every hurdle I’ve come across. Ultimately, the speed of having the site up and running offsets some of the minor tweaks I can’t make easily.

Comments: My experience with Brilliant Directories has been a pleasant one because I knew what I was getting into. I studied the platform prior to committing any dollars to it. I took it out for a test drive with a trial. I watched the interaction in their Facebook group. Once I jumped in I knew that it would take time to build and I prepared my mind for that. Now that I know what It can do I really want to customize it more so now I need to slow down and learn some of the advanced areas. I really love working in this tool and the tech support is second to none.

Pros:

I think what I liked most about using a tool like Brilliant Directories is the range that it presents. You can make it as small or as large as you want it to be. If you want to do a small site you can if you want to run a massive site you can do that as well.

Cons:

I think what I like least is the way it is structured or broken out. It is not a con per se, but if you are a starter in building directories it can be overwhelming and that is not a bad thing it's just once you jump into the Brilliant Directories pool you better make darn sure you can swim or willing to put in the time to learn how to swim in that ocean. I think they should give you some type of bumpers like in bowling when you are just learning. They just give you keys to fancy million dollar car and let you go. Which is nice, but can scare people who are novices

All-in-One Membership Site Solution

Pros:

One of the standout features for me is the Instant Business Records or "Business Data" This allows me to quickly find local companies and upload their information into my directory. The best part? I can contact them immediately about their free listing in my directory. If they need to edit their listing or want to advertise more prominently, I can easily offer different membership levels to suit their needs. This feature alone has saved me so much time and effort in building a comprehensive and engaging directory. Another big plus is the ready-made themes. These themes are industry-specific and come with default layouts and filters that are highly relevant to the businesses I'm targeting. This makes it incredibly easy to set up a professional-looking site without needing to dive into complex design work.

Cons:

One of the main drawbacks I've encountered is the limited filtering options in the Business Data feature. Currently, I can only filter by one business category at a time. Although there's an option for a "broader search," it doesn't quite meet my needs when I just want to focus on a few specific categories. This limitation can make it a bit challenging to narrow down the exact businesses I'm looking to target for my directory. While the themes are user-friendly and ready to use, the design elements and aesthetics may appear somewhat outdated. A modern design update would be beneficial.

Everything You Need to Start a Directory to Scale

Comments: This was one of my all-time best purchases on AppSumo, and certainly one I splurged on. And I'm going to monetize this multitudes over.

Pros:

You can tell there's a strong design element to the make-up of the BD team, because not only is the product comprehensive, the usability, navigation, and intuitiveness of the product is superb.

I genuinely have no complaints about this product at this time.

Comments: I’ve looked at several platforms for my membership needs. I’m impressed with BD!

Pros:

I was surprised at the flexibility of the different types of embed options that Brilliant Directories provides. HMTL, JS, JSON…it has it all!

Cons:

I’m working through getting the setup just like I want it. But, I’ve already found the support team to be amazing and VERY responsive. So, is it really a con? This is a bonus!

Personally I haven't seen a product quite like brilliant directories and I'm quite thankful I came across it. It's exactly what I need to launch my membership community network. I've just recently begun using BD and I'm very pleased thus far with the set up and support.

Cons:

It's a bit difficult to determine which of the add on's I'll want/need moving forward which makes it difficult to really get an accurate picture of how much it will cost once it's fully up and running and I have everything I need.

Comments: Awesome. BD offers so much more than any of its competitors in this space. You can really feel that they are about your success.

Pros:

Very easy to setup and well designed. I would highly recommend anyone purchase this product!

Cons:

It offers great videos on how to use. I would suggest onboarding videos that better cover setup for novices. Cover items that perhaps start at their website goals and show in reverse how to get there.

Pros:

I love the endless design features it offers. Although it takes a bit of time to get used to the navigation, I found the YouTube videos on the BD channel extremely helpful. I'm glad I made this purchase.

Cons:

Everything looks great so far. However, the navigation could be more intuitive.
