Reviews of Ubiquity
Ubiquity Unifi - the Dream Machine is just that
Comments: The ability to deploy small networks with a good level of security, MFA for login and lifetime software updates just kills the competition. So long as they keep this up and hopefully improve the quality issues I'll continue to be a long term customer.
Pros:
As a longer term user of the Unifi range of kit I recently deployed one of the Dream Machine units. The setup was a lot slicker than the previous individual unit based deployment and didn't take too long at all. Fine grained control of multiple VLANs in a relatively cheap product and fantastic extensibility and network traffic insight - what's not to love here.
Cons:
The wireless controller software has some bugs, recently I hit one with setting custom DHCP DNS settings but it reverting to auto DNS. Fortunately an update resolved this but the QA could do with being worked on.
8 port
Comments: ubiquity is still better then the netgear we had in the past.
Pros:
I have been changing out the really cheap switches in our mill the the ubiquity 8 port switches for a couple years now. There not to bad, the software is cheesy but the switches are nice.
Cons:
The software that ubiquity uses is kind of funny to use. It is local to the machine and if you rebuild you need to start over.
Mr
Comments: Stability, marked improved user moral, zero helpdesk calls on quality and speed.
Pros:
Visibility into the invisible. I am able to see and manage a unified wireless network of devices and see endpoints connected. Allot of good information is presented and collected. Maps for device location, firmware state, etc.
Cons:
There can be a sense of modularity to it as you move from one interface to another outside the 1st. But this is only in perhaps troubleshooting.
Alternatives Considered:
